WHAT IS PAD RASH ?




    Pad rash is a skin irritation or rash that can occur as a result of prolonged contact with pad.Sometimes the rash can be the result of irritation from something the pad is made from.Sometimes the combination of moisture and heat can also cause bacterial build up.

    Wearing a sanitary pad can cause friction from movement, resulting in a rash.Sometimes Walking,Running and other form of physical activity can cause the pad move back and foreward and contribute to friction rash on the vulva.

CAUSES OF PAD RASH

Pad rash is usually caused by excessive sweat or friction while wearing a pad.Most pads on the market are made from unnatural material include plastic and bleach .

Some of the ways can cause rash include:





1.FRICTION

Wearing a sanitary pad can cause friction from movement resulting in a rash.Sometimes Walking,Running and other form of physical activity can cause the pad move back and foreward and contribute to friction rash on the vulva.

2.MOISTURE

Prolonged exposure to moisture from menstrual blood or sweat can cause irritation and lead to pad rash.

3.ALLERGIC REACTION

A pad rash develop from various material or chemical that come contact with vulva .Some people may have an allergic reaction to the adhesive or material used in some type of pads.so it is important to know what type of material used in your pads.

4.YEAST OR BACTERIAL INFECTION

Prolonged exposure to moisture and warmth can promote the growth of bacteria and yeast on the skin,leading to infection and worsening of the rash.

5.PROLONGED WEARING PADS

Prolonged wearing pads can cause chafing and irritation of the skin.

TREATMENT OF PAD RASH

Here , some trips for treating pad rash

1.KEEP THE AREA CLEAN AND DRY

Clean the affected area with mild soap and water ,then gently pet dry with a clean towel.

2.AVOID IRRITANTS

Avoid using harsh soaps, perfume product or wipes that may irritate skin further.

3.USE BARRIER CREAMS AND OINTMENTS

Barrier cream or  ointment can provide protective barrier against moisture and irritants.Zinc oxide or Petroleum jelly based product are often effective.

4.APPLY TOPICAL CORTICOSTEROIDS

If the rash is particularly inflamed or itchy, your doctor may prescribe a topical corticosteroid cream to help reduce inflammation and relieve symptoms.

HOW TO PREVENT PAD RASH

1.Avoid tight clothing

2.Avoid using scented or deodarant pads

3.change pads frequently

4.Switch to an all-cotton pad that doesn’t contain dyes or different adhesives. These pads are more expensive, but they may help prevent rashes if you have sensitive skin.

5.Try a sitz bath(Take a plastic tub and fill it with warm water and sitz bath).
