IS SINGLE AND TWIN PREGNANCY
In single pregnancy only one fetus develop in the uterus
and in twin pregnancy two fetus develop in the uterus.single pregnancy is the
most common type of pregnancy.
Twins can be classified into two main types based on how they are
conceived.

BETWEEN SINGLE AND TWIN PREGNANCY SYMPTOMS

described some difference between single and twin pregnancy symptoms.It may be
different from mother to mother.
1.MORNING SICKNESS
In single pregnancy nausea and vomitting in the morning
are commen.
In twin pregnancy women may experience intense and
frequent nausea and vomitting in the morning and also during the day.This occur
due to increased level of hormone production in the development of two babies.
2.FATIGUE
In single pregnancy feeling tired is the common symptoms.
In twin pregnancy women experience extreme fatigue. This
is due to body works hard to support two babies leading to extreme fatigue.
3INCREASED APPETITE
In single pregnancy it is normal to increase appetite due
to body needs more nutrients to support needs of the growing fetus.
In twin pregnancy more increase appetite due to body
needs more nutrients to support needs of the two growing fetus.
4.WEIGHT GAIN
In single pregnancy the weight gain is normal but in twin
pregnancy increased weight gain due to the growth of the babies and mother's
body required to be strong enough to support and carry two babies in whole
pregnancy period.
5.FREQUENT URINATION
Frequent urination is the normal symptoms of
pregnancy,but in twin pregnancy this symptoms are more prominent.In twin
pregnancy two fetuses causes pressure on the urinary bladder and urinary tract
leading to frequent urination.
6.MORE NOTICEABLE BABY MOVEMENT
In twin pregnancy movement from the babies earlier and
frequent than single pregnancy.
7.LARGE UTERUS SIZE
The uterus may expand and look bigger than in single
pregnancy.The prominent difference between single and twin pregnancy is the
rapidly growing shape of the uterus.
8.HIGHER HCG LEVEL
Elevated level of HCG , the hormone detected in pregnancy
test significantly higher than single pregnancy.

SYMPTOMS UNIQUE IN TWIN PREGNANCY
1.MORE FREQUENT AND SEVERE BACK PAIN
In twin pregnancy greater strain on the back from
carrying the additional weight.
2.INCREASED SHORTNESS OF BREATH
Increased shortness of breath caused by greater pressure
on diaphragm and lungs due to the two fetuses.
3.INCREASED CHANCE OF VARICOSE VEIN AND SWELLING
Increased blood volume can lead to more pronounce
swelling in the legs and feet and higher chance of varicose vein.
RISK OF COMPLICATION IN TWIN PREGNANCY
1.PRETERM BIRTH-Twins are high risk of born before 37 weeks of
pregnancy.
2.LOW BIRTH WEIGHT-Twins often have low birth weight compared to single
pregnancy.
3.PREECLAMPSIA-Apregnancy related high blood pressure is more in twin
pregnancy than in single pregnancy.
4.GESTATIONAL DIABETES-Diabetes develop during pregnancy, increased risk in
twin pregnancy due to high hormonal levels affecting insulin resistance.
5.TWIN TO TWIN TRANSFER SYNDROME(TTTS)-A condition where blood flow
unevenly between twins sharing a placenta.One twin may receive too much blood (
leading to heart failure ) while other receives too little ( leading to anemia
and growth issues).
6.PLACENTAL COMPLICATION-The placenta covers the
cervix, leading to bleeding and potential complication of the placenta from the
uterus,leading to bleeding and risk to both mother and babies.
7.INTRAUTERINE GROWTH RESTRICTION(IUGR)-Slower growth rate of one or
both twins in womb common due to competition for nutrients and space.
8.CESAREAN DELIEVERY-Twin pregnancy have a greater risk to requiring cesarean
section rather than vaginal delivery.
9.ANEMIA-The risk is higher in twin pregnancy bacause increased
demand for blood production to support the growth of two fetuses.
POSTPARTUM HAEMORRHAGE-Heavy bleeding after delivery.Higher risk due to the over
distended uterus from carrying twins.

MANAGE TWIN PREGNANCY
Regular prenatal care.
Vitamin and mineral supplement.
weight management-Regular check weight and growth of the
babies.
Rest and stress management-Stress reducing technique such
as deep breathing and meditation.
Avoid junk or fast food as much as possible, as they can
be very unhealthy for both mother and babies.
Attend all scheduled appointment with the gynecology
doctor and strictly follow their instructions.
