1.SUPERFICIAL PEEL


Superficial peel is light chemical peel.It penetrates the epidermis , outer most layer of the skin.Superficial peel is used for the treatment of mild skin condition like mild acne.

TYPES OF SUPERFICIAL PEEL

1.GLYCOLIC ACID PEEL

Belonging to a group of alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) derived from sugar cane.It is helps exfoliate the skin , promote cell turnover and helps with fine lines, mild acne and uneven skin tone.concentration ranges from 20 % to 70 %.

2.SALISYLIC ACID PEEL

Belonging to a group of beta hydroxy acid ( BHB) derived from willow tree bark.Salisylic acid penetrate oil- ladden follicles, uncloged pores and has anti-inflammatory properties making it effective for acne prone skin . concentration ranges between 10% to 30%.

3.LACTIC ACID PEEL

4.MANDELIC ACID PEEL

3.GLYCOLIC ACID (AT HIGHER CONCENTRATION)

Treating more pronounced acne scar and improving skin texture . concentration ranges between 50 % to 70 %.

DEEP PEEL

Deep chemical peels are more intensive treatment compared to superficial and medium peel.These peels penetrates deeper layer of the dermis.

PHENOL PEEL

The strongest type of chemical peel used for severe scarring and deep wrinkles. It requires more recovery time and is typically used for more severe cases.

TAKE CARE AFTER CHEMICAL PEEL

Proper take care after chemical peel is very important for best result and reduce side effect.

Use gentle cleanser.
Apply moisturizer and sunscreen regularly.
Avoid direct sunlight.
Avoid touching or pricking.
Avoid wearing make up for at least 48 hours , or longer if your skin feels sensitive.

SIDE EFFECTS OF CHEMICAL PEEL

COMMON SIDE EFFECT

Redness-Redness is common side effect.superficial peel cause redness last for few days.medium peel cause redness for week or more and deep peel cause redness for several weeks to month.
Swelling-Swelling is common with medium and deep peel usually within a few days to week.
Dryness and Tightness-Skin may feel dry and tight during the healing process. Use moisturizer for decrease dryness.
Peeling and Fracking-Skin typically peels and flakes as the outer layers are shed.
Increased sensitivity to sunlight.

RARE SIDE EFFECT

Darkening of the skin (hyperpigmentation ) particularly in individual with darker skin.
Lightening of the skin ( hypopigmentation ) especially after deep peel.
Infection- Infection occur when skin not properly cured after the peel
Scarring
Allergic reaction to the chemical used in the peel can occur
Some people may experience changes in skin texture such as roughness and unevenness.
